Install on the server (cashier PC)
This page walks you through installing GCafe Billing on the cashier PC (server): set a static IP, create the data folder, run the installer and configure the database. You do it once; it takes about 10 minutes.
Step 1 — Give the server a static IP
- Open Network Connections (press Windows + R, type
ncpa.cpl, Enter). - Right-click the network adapter connected to the café LAN and choose Properties.
- Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) (Windows XP: Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)) and click Properties.
- Choose Use the following IP address and enter an IP in the same subnet as the client PCs, e.g.
192.168.1.10. It must not clash with any other PC in the café. - Click OK to save.
Write this IP down: you will enter it when installing GCafe Billing on client PCs.
Step 2 — Create the data folder
Create a folder on a data drive (not C:), for example E:\Data_GCafe. All account, transaction and report data is stored there.
Step 3 — Run the installer
- Run
gcafeserver.exe. - Select I accept… to accept the terms, then click Next.
- Click Browse to change the install folder, or keep the default. Click Next.
- Click Install, wait until it finishes, then click Finish.
Step 4 — Configure the database
- The database configuration window appears right after installation. Click … and select the folder from step 2.
- Click Install to create the database in that folder.
- Click Finish.
Result: the GCafe Billing server opens and shows its main screen. Next, create staff and member accounts.
⚠️ Note: Do not change the server IP after client PCs are installed. If you must, reinstall the client part with the new IP.
